This post was inspired by a client I had a session with today who loves spicy foods! He had me remembering all the health benefits of hot peppers. I believe Cayenne is one of the top rated for adding to your regular health regimen as well as for on-the-spot treatment of issues.
I love spicy food but don’t have much tolerance for it. A medium salsa is about all I can take! Some people love extra hot – good for them! And I dont mean that in a sarcastic way. The more hot pepper you can consume – probably the better.
In my family I have a 94-year old great uncle who loves hot peppers, beer and snickers bars! He has outlived his 3 brothers who all died in their 70s, one of them being my grand father who had colon cancer. My great uncle doesn’t have the best diet so its hard to believe he has lived this long without any major health problems. I personally believe that eating hot peppers regular has something to do with it.
I have another uncle (non-blood related) who had high cholesterol levels. Without changing anything in his diet except adding in a home-made spicy salsa made with jalapenos – he lowered his cholesterol to a normal level! That is very intriguing!
So back to Cayenne –
“Cayenne pepper – prized for thousands of years for its healing power. Folklore from around the world recounts amazing results using cayenne pepper in simple healing and in baffling health problems. But cayenne pepper is not just a healer from ancient history. Recent clinical studies have been conducted on many of the old-time health applications for this miracle herb. Again and again, the therapeutic value of cayenne pepper has been medically validated.” – Dr. Patrick Quillin

I love natural remedies and this is a great one! Easy to add in any of your favorite dishes or you can even take it in capsule form. Just one little note… Spicy food raises your body temperature and I don’t recommend its use on hot summer days.
