Should I be a vegetarian?

I have been thinking about the idea of possibly eating meat again. I currently eat a mostly vegetarian diet consisting of organic veggies, fruits, nuts, seeds, free range eggs, whole grains and salmon (usually sustainable wild Alaskan) and very little dairy. The reason I don’t eat red meat or chicken currently is because most if it is what I call mutant meat... aka filled with toxins such as growth hormones, antibiotics and pesticides. Gross! Not only that, but consider the energetics of that food. Do you really want to eat something that was sad, angry, depressed, sick etc?

I haven’t been a vegetarian for very long, just about 2 years now. I find that I am doing very well on my diet currently. I know what foods I am able to tolerate, make me feel good and which upset my digestive system. Even though I know what works for me now, perhaps there is something better? Diet needs are always changing too. What works for me now, may not in a few years.

So, eating meat again for me may be an option in the future as long as it is humanely raised in the best possible conditions. Not sure if I am ready to experiment yet, but if I do I will keep you posted!

I just read this article and I found it intriguing.

Story of how one vegetarian converted to farmer and meat eater

… [W]hen you vote to eat a steak or leg of lamb purchased from a small farmer you are showing the industrial system you are actively opting out. You are showing them you are willing to sacrifice more of your paycheck to dine with dignity. As people are made more aware of this beautiful option, farmers are coming out in droves to meet the demand.”

Never really thought about it until now, but it makes sense! If you are a meat eater vote every time you shop. And Veggies, you may want to re-evaluate your reasons for not eating meat.

What is going to make a bigger impact?
