7 Secrets All Happy Women Know
(and other women wish they knew!)

#4 of 7: Play with Dirt

Before you hole yourself up in an air conditioned
office or go for a run on the first day of your
period, do yourself a favor.

Notice what’s happening inside of you. Notice
what’s happening outside of you. Then feel into
how you can reconcile the two. Because your body
always knows. AND because your body, and the world
around you are, at the deepest love, one and the same.

Your health and happiness will thrive once you
honor that.

It’s no coincidence that after a long plane flight
you long for fresh air, sunshine, and a brisk walk.
(Sometimes I even just want to get down on the grass
and roll around like a puppy.)

After so much of the air element, you need
to feel the ground.

When it’s cold outside, you might be inclined to bake
banana bread.

When it’s hot outside, salads and fresh juices
hit the spot.

When I lived in Thailand, I knew a few ex-pats
who clung very tightly to the customs of their
homelands–to the point where they refused to
even eat Thai food! It’s no surprise that they
often got sick and generally complained of low
energy (they didn’t look so hot, either).

Our immediate surroundings carry the information
that our bodies need to stay healthy (that’s
why it’s so important to eat as much locally grown
food as you can and to go for long walks in nature).

As a woman, if your menstrual cycle follows
no form or reason, start to observe the waxing
and waning of the moon. If you have trouble sleeping
at night,try waking up with the sun and doing some sun
salutations first thing. Then, when the sun’s setting,
shut off your computer and cell phone and pick up that
scarf you’ve been knitting or that novel that you’ve
been meaning to read.

Find new, fun, and creative ways to
ALIGN WITH YOUR SURROUNDINGS.

This balances our hormones and negates the struggle
between inner and outer worlds. It doesn’t take much.

Simple shifts could bring the results you’ve been looking
for.
