Purchase a tongue cleaner and use it with your daily brushing and flossing routine.
I used to just use my toothbrush to scrape all the gunk off my tongue, but apparently that wasn’t good enough. While in nutrition school we were all given a tongue cleaner and when I used it for the first time I was horrified… or more appropriately… pretty grossed out! Now I’ll never stop using it.
There are a few different types of tongue cleaners but I recommend the metal U-shaped one. It only takes a few seconds and is easy to clean.
Starting at the back of your tongue, place a tongue cleaner/scraper flush against your tongue’s surface and make a slow sweeping stroke from the back to the front. Repeat 2-3x. Dont press too hard or go too far back or you can hurt yourself or damage the large taste buds in the back of the mouth. You’ll be amazed the first time you use it!
