Tip #2. When you reduce or eliminate this ingredient from your diet your health will soar and your weightloss will seam so much easier. Many foods are loaded with sugar, some foods you may not even realize contain high amounts such as tomato sauce. Just 1/2 cup or traditional style contains 7 grams! It’s disguised in refined carbohydrates like bread, rice, and pasta, and even in beer and milk. Your body can’t tell the difference—it quickly digests and absorbs all these sugars into your bloodstream as glucose.
Of course I know you are aware that many other foods and beverages contain more sugar such as soda pop. One can (12 oz) of cola contains 39 grams of sugar! Liquid sugar is the biggest culprit here because when you drink it cold you are not nearly as aware of how sweet it is.
Would you really sit there and eat 10 sugar cubes instead of drink a can of soda? No, I didn’t think so.
Sugar is a fat free food, but it works against you when it comes to fat reduction. Eating it raises your insulin levels which tells your body to store fat. The more you eat the more you stay in fat-storage mode.
Reducing your sugar will stabilize your blood-sugar levels and reduce your appetite as well.
How to reduce your sugar:
- For weight-loss, start by cutting your sugar grams down to 60 grams per day. This means reading nutrition labels. And yes fruit sugar counts too! Sugar is an addiction so this may be hard for some of you. Your goal is to eat less and less sugar with a goal of 30 grams or less per day, which may seem impossible at first.
- If you are having s sugar craving, drink a full glass of water. Then opt for a piece of sweet fruit such as an apple, orange, pineapple. This always works for me. Natural sugars are better, but keep in mind that they are still sugar!
- Don’t deprive yourself, but work toward your goal of eating less sugar everyday.
